Final 30 lessons finalwrev Large versionHave you ever noticed that when you write with a pencil and erase the pencil mark you can still see it in the background? Even if you erase the five and make it a three, you can still see the five oh so light. You made an imprint on the paper that has made a lasting impression. Sure, you erased the full impact of the pencil on the paper but, it still made an impression from the imprint. Daily, we make impressions and imprint part of ourselves on the canvas and paper of other people’s lives. We don’t know what impact we have made until long after but, some will never forget us. We may fade away in the back of the person’s memory. But, there will come a day when they take the time and remember your name, your face or that thing that you said or did that made an impression, left an imprint and forever will impact their lives. “30 Lessons that the Student Taught the Teacher” is a collection of those impactful lessons, situations and scenarios that were learned by unlikely people in a reversal of roles. The lessons were taught by the student rather than the teacher. The lesson topics include: Belief Leadership Bravery Fight Generosity and more These lessons have left an indelible impression and imprint on my life forever. These lessons are shared because they will undoubtedly leave an undeniable mark on your life.

Indianapolis Christian Writer’s Conference

On November 5, 2011, I attended the Indianapolis Christian Writer’s Conference in Fishers, IN with nearly 100 or more writers at the Wesleyan Church World Headquarters. The facility was beautiful and with state of the art technology and amenities. I can truly say that I enjoyed myself. Because it is a Christian writer’s conference, there was a room filled with Christians and included on the program is a time of worship. I mapped out my strategy for the day. I attended a workshop for fiction writers which I am now working on a Christian fiction book. This book is taking me way out of my comfort zone but, is exciting all at the same time. There will be more to come about that upcoming book by summer of 2012. Secondly, I attended a workshop about something that I had no experience in and that was being a journalist. It was an interesting workshop. I don’t know if I will pursue that area of writing actively. I have made an informed decision by attending that workshop. Next workshop was titled, “Your Writing, His Word” and was clearly in my currently writing area of devotionals, etc. This workshop gave me information and resources for submitting my writing to inspirational publications. Finally, there were three different panels of experts that fielded questions from writers about non-fiction, fiction, publishing, promotions, sales and editors. The entire conference was informative and enlightening. I encourage any writer to attend a writer’s conference or workshop whether in person or online to better hone their skills and expand their writing scope. The pictures from the conference are below, so enjoy!
